Good Lord! How bad is this recession going to get? Now, beer purchased for off-premises consumption is slumping badly and Nate Silver calls this unprecedented.
Silver graduated from the UofC with a degree in Econ but then went on to do something useful-- he crunched baseball statistics. In 2007, he fell off the beam and started a blog about electoral politics which everyone who knows anything believes to be one of the best, even if the subject matter is less important than baseball.
In the article linked above, Silver goes on to establish his street cred in yet another field by citing Alpha King and Dogfish Head as examples of great microbrews. My personal new fave at the pub is starting with a pitcher of Bell's and then finishing with pints of Alpha King. Nothing wrong with Dogfish Head, of course.
