Resuscitation

My apologies for the lack of postings.  Hyde Park Urbanist was set up with two purposes in mind, really-- promoting urbanism, especially in Hyde Park, and keeping an eye on Hyde Park Progress.  The Co-op really doesn't fit into the urbanist agenda, so much, and I had some other reasons, not particularly good ones, for keeping silent on this blog during the election.

My plan is to comment on the Co-op election this weekend, maybe two or three posts, now that I have a better idea what I want to say about it.  I'd rather get back to discussing urbanism, so I don't plan to say much about the Co-op after this weekend unless some unusual news breaks.  (I do reserve the right to complain about the successor grocer, though.)

Proposal A Wins Co-op Vote

I have a preliminary count of 3200 for A and 2049 for B.  If my math is right, that's a 61-39% vote in favor of replacing the Hyde Park Co-op.

Solstice Approved!

Antheus Capital has just been told that the Solstice on the Park Building, west of the Windermere, has received approval and should go forward as planned.

I'm Just Saying

It's 117 years old.  It's run by a group of amateurs in its field.  It's always asking people to donate money to it.  Its prices are among the highest in its industry and keep going higher and higher.

And yet it's recognized as one of the best in the country-- and really the world.  I'm proud to be associated with it, but I'm just saying...
